Chris Condos & Suzanne Hagins, Owners

Horse & Plow is a small, family run winery based in Sebastopol, California, in the heart of the Russian River Valley. This area is ideal for producing high quality fruit that makes unique, and delicious, wine & cider. Horse & Plow also sources grapes from their neighbors in Mendocino and Napa counties, allowing for even more variety from ideal sites. They utilize organic farming methods, small lot fermentations and traditional techniques to make balanced, food friendly and site specific natural wines.

Horse & Plow’s organic practices continue at the winery, where their wines are made naturally with no synthetic nutrients or additives, no GMO’s, are vegan and contain low sulfites.

Chris Condos, owner and co-winemaker, is a California native, but only three generations from Greece. Chris studied Plant Ecology at SF State and Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis, before beginning his career at Pine Ridge Winery. He started Vinum Cellars in Oakville in 1997, which currently produces 30,000 cases of wine annually. He has also been the consulting winemaker for Kathryn Kennedy Winery since 1998.

Suzanne Hagins, owner and co-winemaker, was born in Savannah, Georgia. Her interest in wine developed while working in fine restaurants in Charleston, South Carolina. The mystery and romance of food and wine led her to France, and her first harvest at Comte Armand in Pommard. She moved to California in 2000, and worked in the cellar at DeLoach, David Bruce and Goldeneye wineries before starting her own small, Pinot Noir brand, Lutea.

Combining past experiences and dreams for the future, Chris and Suzanne started Horse & Plow in 2008.

From the value driven Draft Horse White and Red, to varietally precise Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Grenache, to the premium line of wines called The Gardener, Horse & Plow offers wines for a wide variety of on and off premise accounts.
